A consistent theme through my professional life (so far) has been a commitment to education in its widest sense. e-ducare. We should take more note of that Latin root: to be taken from where we are now to another place, to a different understanding or perspective through information and knowledge is one of the most exciting journeys human beings can experience. I'm lucky enough to experience that kind of education several times a day. I've been involved in trying to enable others to enjoy that same experience in various ways: teaching, training, publishing, curating. The power and potential of so-called new technologies in this educational process intrigue and inspire me. But I'm also aware of their limitations. There's still a lot to be said for eye contact and a smile.
