The Diploma in IT Get Together is being held from 11am to 4pm on Tuesday 3rd July 2007. A light lunch will be provided. The event is being hosted by Channel 4 and sponsored by the South East Development Agency (SEEDA).
The Diploma in IT offers a unique opportunity to transform technology related education. Delivery of the Diploma is the responsibility of many organisations. e-skills UK has been working closely with employers, educators and Government to develop the content and structure. In the South East, SEEDA has supported additional work to help prepare consortia for delivery.

Attendance will be free but at the discretion of e-skills UK.
This is not a standard conference. In addition to having the chance to listen to leading employers, educators and e-skills UK there will be opportunities to participate in ‘open space' sessions where delegates will be able to take control of the agenda. For example, any discussion regarding the preparation for launch of the Diploma in IT can be voiced - or any thoughts on any of the subjects covered during the day - the floor is yours.

e-skills UK is the Sector Skills Council for IT and Telecoms. e-skills UK unites industry, educators and government in collaborative employer-led action to ensure that the UK has the technology-related skills it needs to compete in the global economy.
The Diploma in IT will be available at 3 levels; level 1 (equivalent to 4-5 GCSEs), level 2 (equivalent to 5-6 GCSEs) and level 3 (equivalent to 3 A-levels). This is not a vocational qualification. It uniquely combines theoretical learning with work-relevant and employer-based learning and does not restrict the learner's longer term options.
