The title refers to Nick Baylis' presentation yesterday, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The whole day was a wonderful mix of speakers and the chance to discuss at the end was very welcome.
Our group addressed the question: "How can (and how far should) young people benefit from the 'augmentation' derived from digital creativity tools and social networking to enter the adult world?"
Possibilities were offered, for example, in the realms of democracy, business, governance, justice, conflict resolution and parenting/caring.
We questioned the role of adults in determining the answer to such a question but also recognised our desire to affirm young people's entitlement to play and to youthful freedom from responsibility. On the other hand, we considered the question "at what age can a person be legitimately labeled an artist, parent or researcher".
For me the question transformed into "Is the age of majority under attack?"
